Meet our Construction Team

Tim A. Garris, Owner - Tim founded Garris Design Construction in 1989 with a keen desire to provide high quality design/construction services to his community. Tim graduated in 1976 from Fayetteville Technical Institute where he majored in Architectural Design/Drafting. From 1976 to 1989, Tim learned the intricacies of the design build profession while employed with Black & Veatch, Inc., Engineers, Architects (formerly Moore, Gardner & Associates). From 1990 to 2006 Tim served as partner and manager with Garris-Brantley Design Construction.  In 2007 Tim reestablished his original company, Garris Design Construction to continue bringing high caliber services to the Randolph County area. Tim has designed and built many of our most notable projects including Thomas Residence, Burkart Residence, Teague Residence, Bartok Residence, Jugtown Cafe, and many others too numerous to mention.

Tim is a past president and of the Home Builders Association of Asheboro/Randolph County as well as Builder Member of the Year in 1997. Tim also volunteers for Habitat of Humanity of Randolph, Inc. serving on the Board of Directors and as Building Committee Chairman. In his spare time, Tim enjoys photography, computers, boating, flying, art, and traveling. Tim also has a private pilots license with an instrument rating. Tim lives with his wife Bert, and has three children, Dale, Chad, and Kathryn and two grandchildren, Trinity and Grayson. 

Dean Johnson, Project Manager - When Dean joined the Garris Design Construction team in 1993 he brought sixteen years of hands on experience in the construction industry. Dean's expertise has earned him the Project Manager role on our largest and most complex projects. Dean's project credits are the Teague Residence, Arnold Residence, Redding Residence, Rankin Residence, Lail Residence, and Cornwell Residence and Pugh Residence Renovation.

Dean enjoys wood working, furniture building, landscaping, camping, and hiking.

Chris McCracken, Project Manager - Chris joined the Garris-Brantley team in 1996. Chris has developed into an energetic project manager that enjoys the challenge of demanding projects. Chris completed the Tot Hill Swimming Pool Facility at a blistering pace of just over 3 months.  Other projects include Science Hill Friends Church classroom addition, Salem Church Fellowship Hall, George Turner Residence,

Chris lives with his wife Heather and three children. In his spare time Chris enjoys watching CSPAN. (just kidding).  His great joy is spending time with his kids and playing with their toys.
